Updates from District 97

District's New Reading Series
The District 97 elementary reading committee has selected a new reading series that will replace Open Court in fall 2011. The new series is Treasures from MacMillan/SRA/McGraw-Hill (copyright 2011). Prior to final adoption by the Board of Education, parents and community members are invited to review samples of the new materials, which will be on display in the teaching and learning department at the district's administration building (970 Madison Street) during normal working hours (8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) from Monday, August 30 through Friday, September 10. Highlights from August 24 Board Meeting
Below are some of the highlight's from the Board of Education meeting held on August 24 at 7 p.m.

Mike Padavic, the director of special education, gave a report regarding the current state of special education in District 97 and plans for the future. You can access the report by visiting https://v3.boardbook.org/Public/PublicItemDownload.aspx?ik=30521204.

The Board of Education approved the intergovernmental agreement between District 97 and the Village of Oak Park regarding the provision of crossing guard services for the 2010-2011 school year.
